I Cannot Be With You

I wrote this during the Covid pandemic for all those with loved ones in facilities who they were not allowed to visit and who may have even missed their last hours on earth. My heart goes out to you all.
I cannot be with you
In the coming days
I cannot be with you
I have to find another a way
To penetrate these walls
So you will know how much
I love and cherish you
Though you cannot feel my touch
I’m sending all my love
That’s all that I can do
I cannot be with you
I cannot be with you
I know it has to be
If I could be with you
I’d crawl a mile on my knees
I know you’re losing strength
But please don’t lose will
Don’t ever doubt that I
am here and love you still
My heart’s like shattered glass
it’s broken through and through
I cannot be with you
I cannot be with you
In your final hour
I cannot be with you
But I hope you feel the power
As I sit with you in love
The way I always have through life
No you may not see my face
But I am sending you my light
Although we are apart
I don’t believe it’s true
that I cannot be with you
Although we are apart
I swear isn’t true . . .
I am with you
